For those looking for a tranquil residence amidst the Colorado Pines, Flying Dutchman is the place. This condominium complex in Keystone has incorporated a variety of impressive recycling efforts. Their budget friendly recycling renovation has even earned them the Keystone Owners Association annual HOA improvement award in the environmentally friendly category. Residents observed issues with bears breaking into their outdoor waste containers, many incidences of illegal dumping, and high levels of contamination in the recycling system. Flying Dutchman was able to drastically decrease these issues with a few key changes.
Improvements made:
- Installed locking sheds to house their recycling and trash containers.
- Posted infographic flyers in common areas and increased signage overall
- Communicates recycling guidelines with owners on a regular basis via email
Locking our dumpster and recycling to require thought before entering was a big win for us at Keystone and prevented a lot of dumping we received. -Holly Blando, former resident
