Family-owned local waste hauler, Garbage Gurus aims to implement sustainable waste-handling solutions for Summit County residents. As a recipient of the 2023 Strong Future Community Waste Prevention and Reduction Grant, Garbage Gurus was able to expand their waste diversion services while also lowering costs for workforce housing residents. Their grant-supported project allowed the hauler to equip their trucks to service commercial and residential properties for food scrap pick up, diverting food waste from our landfill to our local composting operation. You don’t have to be a guru to see the wisdom in this sustainable service!
In practice, this means that Garbage Gurus is now able to provide curbside and valet organic waste pick up to turn those coffee grinds, apple cores and sloppy scraps into nutrient rich compost which will be re-sold to lucky locals. Alongside recently expand recycling services for workforce communities, these newly offered services by Garbage Gurus make composting and recycling much more convenient and cost-effective for homeowners and businesses and will certainly lead to increased participation throughout Summit County.
