Breckenridge Grand Vacation (BGV), a locally owned and operated property management and real estate company, was awarded a Strong Future Community Waste Prevention and Reduction Grant in 2023. With this funding, BGV was able to complete projects at two of their properties in Breckenridge. Individual units at the Grand Timber Lodge now have compost bins, making it easier for guests to keep their food scraps out of the trash. The Grand Colorado on Peak 8 added reusable cups at water stations throughout the main level, as well as a dishwasher to wash all those cups.  

Just three weeks after providing the compost bins, the Grand Timber Lodge was able to divert 46.5 pounds of food waste from the landfill. Since making the switch to durables, just one water filling station at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 is on track to eliminate 52,000 disposable cups a year! Together, these projects will reduce a massive amount of single use plastics and food scraps from entering the landfill, and they also free up financial resources to be used elsewhere to better the customer experience. Nice work, BGV! Way to be a sustainable leader in the community.
