Annual Recycling Event & Town Cleanup Day
Need to get that old TV out of the house? What about old cleaners or fertilizers sitting in the garage? The Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP) and HC3 work in conjunction with Summit County towns to host the Annual Recycling Event on Saturday, May 18 from 8 am to 2 pm at the Summit Stage Bus Barn. This is your chance to go through the free drive-through drop off for hard to recycle items, including electronics, paints, textiles, pharmaceuticals and household hazardous waste (HHW). Learn more by visiting our HHW page or call us at 970-668-5703.
- Can I bring old motor oil and antifreeze to the event?
No. These items are not accepted at the event, however they, along with all HHW, are accepted year-round free from residents year-round at the SCRAP.
- Can we bring a lot of TVs to the event?
No. Commercial loads are not accepted at the event, however the SCRAP can handle this type of request during regular business hours. Contact them at 970-468-9263 for details.
- Do you take florescent tubes and CFLs?
Not at the event. These items are accepted year-round free from residents at the SCRAP.
- What’s the best way for me to package my old pesticides and cleaners?
Please keep it in the original container and ensure it is tightly sealed. If the original container is damaged, you can seal it in a bucket.
The event is held in conjunction with Town Cleanup Day, which is traditionally celebrated in Blue River, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, and Silverthorne. Help clean up your community and wrap up the day with a community picnic. HC3 will be at the Breckenridge Town Cleanup picnic to answer your conservation questions and give away LED bulbs. Bring us an old incandescent or CFL bulb and we’ll give you two LEDs.
For more information on the individual cleanups and picnics, please contact your local town.
